Dr. Yukon Huang 

Former World Bank Director for China and Senior Assocaite Carneige Endownment 

Yukon Huang was formerly the World Bank’s Country Director for China and currently senior associate in the Carnegie Endowment’s Asia Program in Washington D.C.  His research focuses on China’s economic development and its impact on Asia and the global economy.  Prior to his World Bank assignment in China, he was the World Bank’s Director for Russia and the former Soviet Union and earlier Lead Economist for Asia. He has also held positions at the U.S. Treasury and professorships at various universities in the United States and abroad. He is an adviser to the World Bank and the Asian Development Bank, as well as various governments.  Dr.  Huang has published widely on development issues and is regular “A-List” Commentator on China for the Financial Times.  His recent publications include East Asia Visions which addresses future prospects for the region and Reshaping Economic Geography in East Asia which analyzes how the growth patterns in East Asia have been shaped by spatial and economic factors.  He has a PhD in economics from Princeton University and a BA from Yale.
