
Michael ElliotEditor Time International Michael Elliott is the editor of TIME International, a post he took up in May, 2005. He also writes TIME Magazine's Global Agenda column.
One of the world's leading commentators on international affairs, Elliott joined TIME as editor-at-large in 2001, after a year spent as editor-in-chief of eCountries, an internet-based news and information service on the global economy. Elliott spent 10 years at The Economist where he was political editor and Washington bureau chief, and the founding author of the Bagehot and Lexington columns, the first columns ever published in The Economist. He then spent seven years at Newsweek, and was editor of Newsweek International. He is the only person ever to have held top editorial positions at all three leading international publications.
Born in Liverpool, England, Elliott was educated at Oxford University, after which he taught at Northwestern University, the University of Warwick and the LSE. Elliott has written four books and made many TV documentaries that have been shown all over the world, including the BAFTA-nominated series "The Clintons" for Britain's Channel 4 in 1998. He is a regular commentator for CNN and CNN International, and often speaks at leading industry and economic conferences all over the world.
A citizen of the UK, Elliott has spent most of his adult life in the USA, but presently lives in Hong Kong. In 2003, he was awarded the Order of the British Empire for services to journalism. Back to speakers |
